Game Console Hacking (Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo)

Game Console Hacking (Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo)
Publisher: Syngress | ISBN: 1931836310 | edition 2005 | PDF | 593 pages | 17,3 mb

This book provides detailed instructions on how to customize and reconfigure consoles to a wide variety of ends--from the cosmetic case modifications to the ambitious porting of Linux to the Nintendo GameCube.
In November of 1977, Atari shipped its first 400,000 Video Computer Systems. Since that time, over 1.2 billion consoles have been sold worldwide, and a large percentage of those are still hanging around as "classic systems". An avid (some would say rabid) community of video game hackers and hardware geeks has developed around a common passion to push their consoles, and the games themselves, beyond the functionality originally intended by the manufacturers. This book is the first on the market to cover the entire range of consoles produced over the last 25 years (most game hacks and geeks own multiple platforms). It provides detailed instructions on how to customize and reconfigure consoles to a wide variety of ends--from the cosmetic case modifications to the ambitious porting of Linux to the Nintendo GameCube. Platforms covered in this book include Atari, Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, and Gamepark 32.

Embedded Systems: Desktop Integration (Wordware Applications Library)

Embedded Systems: Desktop Integration (Wordware Applications Library)

Embedded Systems: Desktop Integration (Wordware Applications Library)

Embedded Systems: Desktop Integration explores designing embedded systems and monitoring and controlling them from desktop systems. Through the step-by-step development of an embedded thermostat, readers learn how to implement three different hardware interfaces: RS-232, USB, and Ethernet. Several different components are used to provide the reader with alternative hardware solutions.
Additionally, three different types of microcontrollers are used to implement the intelligence in the thermostat: the BASIC Stamp, the dsPIC, and the Cypress PSoC. Monitor and control software is developed for Windows, Linux, and the BSD operating Systems. Several cross-platform tools are explored including wxWindows, Borland Delphi and Kylix, and C++BuilderX, and there is even a section on how to make your own printed circuit boards.

The Art of Unit Testing: with Examples in .NET

The Art of Unit Testing: with Examples in .NET

TITLE : The Art of Unit Testing: with Examples in .NET
TYPE : Computer/Programming
AUTHOR : Roy Osherove
PUBLISHER : Manning Publications
ISBN : 1933988274
PAGES : 320 pages
EDITION : 1st
LANGUAGE : ENGLISH
RELEASE DATE: Unknown

RELEASE NOTES :

The Art of Unit Testing guides the reader on the journey from beginner to master in the subtle art of unit testing. Based on expert author Roy Osherove’s real-world development experiences, this book shows developers how to make sure the code that they write actually works as expected, and how to make these verifications as automated as possible. Not only that, the book shows techniques that help to make sure that tests are maintainable, readable, and test the right thing over time.

The author establishes five rules for good unit tests built upon the three major principles that any good test be maintainable, trustworthy, and readable. Clear sections present established best practices, and the book also provides clear guidance on what to test and where to start testing in a legacy code project.

Unlike other books on this topic, this book trades theory for real-world examples. It’s designed so that a working developer can start writing better unit tests now. Unlike most Unit Testing and TDD books, most examples are in C# on the .NET platform.

Building a server with FreeBSD 7

Building a server with FreeBSD 7

Building a server with FreeBSD 7

Hong’s straightforward style makes it easy for the do-it-yourself crowd to build a server quickly using the ports collection (a software package management system). But rather than wade through the thousands of ports available, Hong focuses on the most popular and useful ones. Each package is treated as an independent project (and given a difficulty rating), so readers can dip into the book at any point to install just the packages they need, when they need them.

The book’s modules cover topics like:

* Running common FreeBSD admin commands and tasks.
* Managing the FreeBSD ports collection.
* Installing third-party apps like Apache, Courier-IMAP, SpamAssassin, CUPS, Cyrus SASL, MediaWiki, and WordPress.
* Setting up MySQL, NTP, ISC DHCP, ISC BIND DNS, PHP, OpenLDAP, OpenSSH, OpenSSL, and OpenVPN.

Appendixes explain user management, backup/restore, and network protocols.

Building a Server with FreeBSD 7 will have readers running their own server loaded with useful modules in no time, with a minimum of hassle.

Pro DNS and BIND

Pro DNS and BIND

Pro DNS and BIND

Pro DNS and BIND guides you through the challenging array of features surrounding DNS, with a special focus on BIND, the world’s most popular DNS implementation. This book unravels the mysteries of DNS, offering insight into origins, evolution, and key concepts like domain names and zone files. This book focuses on running DNS systems based on BIND 9.3.0—the first stable release that includes support for the latest DNSSEC (DNSSEC.bis) standards and a major functional upgrade from previous BIND 9 releases.

If you administer a DNS system or are thinking about running one, or if you need to upgrade to support IPv6 DNS, need to secure a DNS for zone transfer, dynamic update, or other reasons, or if you need to implement DNSSEC, or simply want to understand the DNS system, then this book provides you with a single point of reference. Pro DNS and BIND starts with simple concepts, then moves on to full security-aware DNSSEC configurations. Various features, parameters, and resource records are described and, in the majority of cases, illustrated with one or more examples.

The book contains a complete reference to zone files, Resource Records, and BIND’s configuration file parameters. You can treat the book as as a simple paint-by-numbers guide to everything from a simple caching DNS, to the most complex secure DNS (DNSSEC) implementation. Background information is still included for when you need to know what to do and why you have to do it, and so that you can modify processes to meet your unique needs.

Topics Include:
Introduction to the DNS Basic DNS types with complete configuarion examples DNS and IPv6 Installing BIND on Linux, FreeBSD and Windows Subdomain delegation DNS and load balancing Reverse map delegation DNSSEC (DNSSEC.bis) and the DLV experimental service Key rollover and DNSSEC maintenance DNS tools and diagnostics.

Part 6: Advanced Strategies with Charles Faulkner

Raw and unedited – This footage is coming straight from the camera!

If you purchased the Living Encyclopedia Volume 1, you've enjoyed a thoroughly edited, polished, and cross referenced NLP Comprehensive Practitioner Training – a tool for both the neophyte and the master. You've probably already been telling your friends about it. ;-)

The response has been so strong from people who, like you, also want the Master Practitioner, and don't want to wait for another year or so, that we have decided to offer a limited edition of the raw, unedited Master Practitioner Training DVDs.
